I never understood why people keep dissing this day.

Their argument goes something like this: You shouldn’t have to dedicate one day to show someone how much you love, when you should be doing it everyday.

Well okay… buy your significant other chocolates, a lovey-dovey card and a bouquet of roses every single day then! Just kidding.

But on a more serious note. I feel like people are misunderstanding the point of this holiday. Don’t think of it in such a negative way. As opposed to thinking about it as a day that destroys love and affection, think of it as a day that just reinforces the idea that showing your love and affection for someone is important. Important because it shows that you appreciate them.

This is similar to Thanksgiving Day being a holiday right? (And let’s be honest, the first thing you all think about when it comes to this day is food anyway… NOT giving thanks. Okay? So shush) It would be easy to say: Well you should be giving thanks to people everyday, not just one day! Well, it’s widely accepted that Thanksgiving just reinforces the idea, and doesn’t destroy it, right?

This should be the same for Valentine’s Day in my opinion.

So just shut up, buy someone chocolates and roses, and be happy bro.
